CBCT DENTAL SCANS

Dental radiographic imaging has become one of the most important components in today’s dental practices, and the most important new imaging technology to emerge in the dental industry during the past decade is cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT.

WHAT WILL THE CBCT SCAN DO FOR THE DENTIST?
It will allow my dentist to view a 3 dimensional image of my jaw bones and teeth to be able to:
  • Visualize internal anatomy that cannot be diagnosed externally
  • Plan treatment and surgery
  • Assess risks
  • View the position and orientation of critical structures
Therefore bringing our care of each patient to a whole new level of safety and competence

WHAT IS THE CBCT SCAN USEDS FOR?
  • Oral Surgery
  • Implant planning
  • TMJ analysis
  • Airway Studies
  • Impacted teeth
  • Periodontal Disease
  • Jaw Tumors
HOW SAFE IS THE CBCT SCAN
The Cone beam scanners are designed for safety. A scan with a CBST scanner is very fast, between 10-40 seconds, as compared to a regular cat scan which takes a few minutes. Therefore the radiation exposure is 10 times less. The scan is completely painless, and is performed in a stand up or seated position where you only have to hold still for at the most 40 seconds A CBCT scan is noninvasive, and can eliminate the need for exploratory surgery in some cases.

There is no special preparation for this x-ray, you will be asked only to remove your earrings, necklaces, hairpins and eyeglasses.
